CurtainUp DC Critic
Dolores Whiskeyman

Dolores Whiskeyman is in good company in her dual role as critic and playwright (G.B.Shaw and Tom Stoppard, to name just two). She spent the 1998-99 season as playwright-in-residence at The Playwrights' Theatre of New Jersey where she wrote Radium Girls, which scheduled for production at the theatre in 2000. She has written four other full-length plays as well as several award-winning short plays, including a children's play, Louisiana Bates, which won TADA! Theatre Company's Spring Staged Reading series award. Another play, So Tell Me About This Guy, originally presented at Actors' Theatre of Louisville, was subsequently included in an anthology published by Samuel French and later translated into Spanish for publication in the journal Art Teatral. It has since received numerous productions worldwide.

Dolores holds an MFA in drama from Catholic University of America, where she also acted in and directed several productions. She also has taught playwriting in New Jersey public schools through the New Jersey Writers Project and the Essex County Arts Council.
